Vivat CEO Yulia Orlova's comment regarding the attack on the Factor-Druk printing house - Vivat

Yesterday was supposed to be an ordinary workday, busy with coordinating book releases, reviewing manuscripts, sending orders to our partners and readers, and planning for one of the biggest book fairs, the Book Arsenal. It would have been, if not for the enemy who continues to destroy us.

What happened is an enormous tragedy for the entire book community of Ukraine. My deepest condolences to everyone who lost their loved ones. We lost people who bravely, despite the daily bombings of Kharkiv, went to work so that we could hold the latest books for adults and children in our hands. As of now, it is known that seven employees of the printing house lost their lives, and 22 others were injured. The rescue operation continues tirelessly at the scene of the tragedy.

Vivat and Factor-Druk belong to the same group of companies. Serhii Polituchiy, the owner of this holding, is currently assessing how many Kharkiv residents among our employees need assistance.

Shipments from the warehouse are temporarily suspended, but once the search and rescue operations are completed, the warehouse will resume its operations.⠀

We are deeply moved by the wave of support for the Factor-Druk printing house team and Vivat publishing from readers, authors, partners, and journalists — from Ukraine and beyond its borders. Please help spread the word about this tragedy to the world — about how the enemy is destroying Ukrainian books and culture, attempting to disrupt the development of our nation. Support from all corners of the world is currently vital for us.

Based on my own experience, I believe it is crucial to channel our grief and anger into action. How can you do that?

Ways to support:

  • Donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are our heroes!
  • Keep buying Ukrainian books! Factor-Druk is one of the largest printing houses in Ukraine, where not only Vivat books are printed, but also many books from other publishers, as well as newspapers, magazines, calendars, school notebooks for your children and grandchildren.⠀
